Cell sorters
The Bigfoot jet-in-air spectral cell sorter is equipped with 7 lasers : 349nm, 405nm, 445nm, 488nm, 561nm, 640nm and 785 nm and 60 detectors. It allows acquisition and sorting on spectrally unmixed or coventionally compensated data.
The available nozzles include 70 um, 100 um , 120 um and 150 um nozzles (200 um to come soon).
With sort rates up to > 70 000 eps, sorting is fast and configurable. Possible collections media include 1.5 ml. 5 ml, 15 ml, 50 ml tubes , 96- well plates (four-way sorting), 394-well plates (eight-way sorting) , 1536- well plates ( straight-down sorting), as well as 96- and 394- deep well plates. 96- well sort can take as little as 11 seconds and 384-well sort 20 seconds. Futhermore, micoroscopic slides, 8 well strips and 10 x Genomics chips can be used as collection devices.
Sasquatch (SQ) software manages acquisition, analysis, and sorting. An advanced fluorophore selector helps to design standard and spectral experiments and warns of potential conflicts. The experiment wizard assists in running controls, identifying potential issues, and applying the unmixing algorithms. Analysis features include overlays, color-gating, backgating, index sorting, and ratio plots, and the software generates FCS files.
Please NOTE that to reserve this instrument for sorting you need to contact our staff at . The spectral sorter is currently operated mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Up to 4-way sorting into 1.5ml or 5ml tubes, 2-way sorting into 15ml tubes Single cell sorting in 6-, 24-, 96-and 384-well plates
The BD FACSAriaTM Fusion Cell Sorter is placed in the biosafety hood for increased operator and sample protection.
BD Aria Fusion is equipped with 5 lasers (355, 405, 488, 561 and 633 nm) and can measure up to 20 parameters.
It is a high speed-cell sorter with a sensitive, fixed-alignment couvette flow cell. Digital acquisition rates of up to 70000 events per second and sorting rates up to 25000 events per second are possible.
The 70, 85, 100 and 130-micron nozzle tip sizes are available to accomodate a broad range of cell types.
Two- and four-way bulk sorting devices for a variety of tube sizes are provided.
Automated Cell Deposition Unit allows plate and slide sorting. Index sorting makes it possible to review the complete cell surface phenotype of every cell single sorted into plates. BD FACSDiva software manages acquisition templates, experiment layouts, and compensation procedures.
